About

Work in progress ;)

Is this page ever in need of updating. Saying that it hasn’t been touched in years wouldn’t be far from the truth. Actually, that probably is the truth.

Hi, I’m Allie and I have a problem with neglecting my blog. I’m trying to fix that because despite the fact that I have been sporadic (at best) with regards to posting and general updates, I love my website.

I’ve had echodrift.com since 2003, when I had grand intentions of making it into a webdesign portfolio and building a business off of it. Then I graduated high school and college happened and instead of studying web design, web development, graphic design, or any such field I ended studying for a BA in Computer Information Systems and a BA in Mathematics. Why a BA? I just had to take four semesters of a foreign language and thought why not? Why those fields and not something else? Don’t ask; it’s a long story and after 8 years I still don’t have a real answer. During that time there just weren’t enough hours in a day to keep up with everything so the site fell dormant.

Then in 2007 I graduated! And I got married that summer! And I started working in an Information Technology department at a university! It was quite a busy time. But in 2008 I wanted to get back in the swing of things so I cobbled some sort of theme together and installed WordPress. Sadly, ever since then I’ve not done much more than the occasional post or two and I’ve changed the theme… less than once a calendar year. When 2012 rolled around I decided to do some reorganizing and really make an effort to keep the site going because I couldn’t let go. All entries pre-2012 have been shoved into “The Attic.”

A lot of things have happened in the last couple of years. I have some sort of headache disorder that I still don’t have a name or cause for. I tend to talk about it a lot because otherwise I don’t think I could stay sane. I’m not currently in the IT field. What’s next I haven’t quite figured out yet. We’ve moved to Wisconsin and yes, sometimes I feel really out of place because I talk different.

To be continued…
